Q: Acura MDX…?
I have been thinking of buying an Acura MDX and wanted to get the opinions of people who own them and are happy, or people who own them and regret it. I’m trying to decide between the MDX and a VM Touareg. Your thoughts?

A: I bought a Touareg and lost $20,000.00 when I had to dump it before the warranty ran out. It spent months in the shop one repair after another. Tires will only last 10,000 miles and gas mileage is about 14 mpg. Volkswagen was impossible to deal with, DO NOT DO IT! I would highly recommend the MDX if you have a dealer in your area for repairs. My replacement for the Touareg was a Nissan Pathfinder with a V6. It’s not as fancy as the Touareg but It has never failed me. Good Luck.

Q: Acura Mdx???
there is a way to look at traffic rports of nav screen for 2008 acrua mdx, but how do u do it?

A: We got an RDX, and neighbors got an MDX. I am 95% sure that the free XM subscription does not comes with Navtraffic. If it did, it would be obvious.

Q: How many miles do ACURA MDX’s usually run until they start having problems?
I want to buy a used Acura MDX with 80,000+ miles and want to make sure it will last at least another 100,000 miles. I know the TL and RL generally last a long time.

A: Acuras and Hondas last as long as you want to drive them and maintain and repair them. My wifes 1997 CRV has 196,000 and my 2002 RSX S has 135,000. Both run AS NEW. Her engine is a little noisy when its super cold until it warms up.

Old skool thought was v6’s outlast 4cylinder cars because the engine is under less stress. So if properly maintained MDX should go until you get sick of it. My sis has a 02 MDX with 140,000 runs awesome. They did have the tranny repl under warranty though-thats the only problem Ive heard about the Automatic honda/acura in V6 is some had tranny problems like 1998-2002ish years.

To the guy complaining about the RL-if you get a car loaded with gizmos, sometimes they will have bugs. Ask any BWM, Mercedes, Audi. VW, Caddy owner about electricl bugs, they all have them. Fix it and move on-this guy is asking about real failure like engine/tranny.

Q: what is the difference between a regular 2004 Acura MDX and a Touring MDX?
I am looking at a 2004 Acura MDX and do not know if its a bae or a Touring. Other than an upgraded Bose stereo, what is the difference between the two and what additional options does the Touring have?

A: extra stuff

Q: Are the transmissions on a 01 acura mdx attached to the engine?
I heard that the transmissions on an 01 acura mdx are permanently attached to the engine, so if the tranmsissions would need to replaced, i would have to remove both the engine and the motor to relace the transmision. Is that true, or is there another way to remove the transmission without removing the engine also with it?

A: They are not permently attached but by bolts yes they are. Depending on the type of repair needed, you might have to pull the whole motor out to work on the tranny. But that is nothing different, all cars are like that.

Q: What is the average price of a 2007 Acura MDX?
I live west of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I want to buy an Acura MDX. I am looking for a 2007 or 2006 model. The prices I have seen are so expensive for todays recession prices. What should they be?

A: 22,000-30,000 depending on model miles ect.

Q: Where is the fuel filter located on a 2003 acura mdx?

Q: Where can i find a plastic cover for the passengers side tail light of a 2005 Acura MDX?
Someone smashed into my car while it was parked on the street and broke the plastic cover of my passenger side tail light on a recently purchased 2005 Acura MDX. All i can find is the entire light replacement (around $150)– is there somewhere I can find just the plastic cover?

A: bone yard

Q: Can someone give me some info on the Acura MDx and RDx?
Right now I have a Honda CR-V and it eats gas up(hate that)..I do travel alot and would like a decent car to travel in, would the Acura MDx or RDx be a good car?

A: Does it needs to be a SUV? Consider other types of vehicles too. If you do not need the 4×4 capabilities or not need to drive off road. There is no reason to have some like that. You might enjoy better a much nimble vehicle with a better fuel efficiency.

If your major concern is fuel efficiency. By personal experience, I drive a full size sedan, is comfy, handles great and I get at worst 27 MPG at 77 MPH as best 32 MPG so is not bad to fill the tank with gas 16 GL and drive 450 miles before I have to fill up. Plus it has tons of room. I drove it to Copper Mountain in Colorado with 2 sets of Skis, all the gear, suitcases and all fit inside the car. The funny thing, I saw 2 SUVs on the ditch but no other cars!

Not only that, to insure is cheaper and I paid brand new about $21,000 back on 03. 84,000 miles later still runs strong.

If that is not what you are looking for, is hard to find a SUV here in the USA that will sip gas. If there is one, it will be gutless as heck.

Good luck…! :-)

Q: What does it mean “Maintenance Required” light on an Acura MDX?
My 2003 Acura MDX’s “MAINT RQ’D” light came on while I was driving. Now, its a steady light. Its not the “check engine” light but it is now lit and I am worried it might just stop in the middle of the road.

A: generally that means it is time for an oil change and if you had your oil changed recently then they forgot to reset it. good luck and Merry Christmas

Q: Does any one has any good or bad experience with 2001 MDX ACURA?
I want to buy 2001 Acura MDX, is anyone has any bad experience with this car. what do I need to look for when I go to check it out?

A: Both the MDX and its sister the Pilot are excellent cars. I repair cars for a living and I see few major problems with these vehicles. I would buy either one of these cars.

Q: how do you remove the tranmission out of a 2001 acura mdx?
i am removing a tranny out of an 01 acura mdx for the first time. I am trying to figure out where is the bracket to remove the tranny. If possible i would love to see a diagram ect.

A: un bolt the motor mounts and lower crossmember and remove halfshafts then lower it out from under the car with the engine attached.

Q: Is there a big difference between the 2003, 2004 and 2006 models of the Acura MDX?
I’m thinking about buying an Acura MDX and I’m wondering if I should try for a used one to save a little cash. I have no idea what’s changed in the car over the past few years so any info would be appreciated.

A: Acura usually does a new redesign every 4 to 5 years. In the time between, very minor changes are made.

Q: Where is the FTP sensor located in the 04 Acura MDX?
Does anyone knows how to fix the code P0452 on the 04 Acura MDX?

A: The FTP (fuel tank pressure) sensor is located near the fuel tank. It is mounted on a bracket and has an electrical connector and two hoses connected to it. To troubleshoot the code you need a scan tool to view the computer data while you test the sensor in several different conditions. Lacking a scan tool and the knowledge to perform the troubleshooting, the only thing you can do is locate the sensor, inspect the electrical connection and the hoses for problems and then replace the sensor if they are ok>

Q: Does the 2003 Acura MDX have safety latches for a car seat?
Does the 2003 Acura MDX have safety latches for a car seat.
My Chevy Suburban Does have them and it’s a 2001

A: Yes, it’s the law
