Q: How many miles do ACURA MDX’s usually run until they start having problems?
I want to buy a used Acura MDX with 80,000+ miles and want to make sure it will last at least another 100,000 miles. I know the TL and RL generally last a long time.
A: Acuras and Hondas last as long as you want to drive them and maintain and repair them. My wifes 1997 CRV has 196,000 and my 2002 RSX S has 135,000. Both run AS NEW. Her engine is a little noisy when its super cold until it warms up.
Old skool thought was v6’s outlast 4cylinder cars because the engine is under less stress. So if properly maintained MDX should go until you get sick of it. My sis has a 02 MDX with 140,000 runs awesome. They did have the tranny repl under warranty though-thats the only problem Ive heard about the Automatic honda/acura in V6 is some had tranny problems like 1998-2002ish years.
To the guy complaining about the RL-if you get a car loaded with gizmos, sometimes they will have bugs. Ask any BWM, Mercedes, Audi. VW, Caddy owner about electricl bugs, they all have them. Fix it and move on-this guy is asking about real failure like engine/tranny.
Q: what is the difference between a regular 2004 Acura MDX and a Touring MDX?
I am looking at a 2004 Acura MDX and do not know if its a bae or a Touring. Other than an upgraded Bose stereo, what is the difference between the two and what additional options does the Touring have?

Q: Are the transmissions on a 01 acura mdx attached to the engine?
I heard that the transmissions on an 01 acura mdx are permanently attached to the engine, so if the tranmsissions would need to replaced, i would have to remove both the engine and the motor to relace the transmision. Is that true, or is there another way to remove the transmission without removing the engine also with it?
A: They are not permently attached but by bolts yes they are. Depending on the type of repair needed, you might have to pull the whole motor out to work on the tranny. But that is nothing different, all cars are like that.
Q: does the blue tooth hookup described by the Acura person work for 2005 MDX?
I have a 2005 MDX and realized I never got a handbook, just the quickie book. I called the dealer to get one and they want to sell me one for $60. Not in the budget right now.
A: My Uncle’s MDX has bluetooth.
He makes phone calls through the bluetooth in his car.
Your car should have it.
All of the newer 2002-2008 Acura’s that I have been in had bluetooth.

I live west of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I want to buy an Acura MDX. I am looking for a 2007 or 2006 model. The prices I have seen are so expensive for todays recession prices. What should they be?

Q: Where can i find a plastic cover for the passengers side tail light of a 2005 Acura MDX?
Someone smashed into my car while it was parked on the street and broke the plastic cover of my passenger side tail light on a recently purchased 2005 Acura MDX. All i can find is the entire light replacement (around $150)– is there somewhere I can find just the plastic cover?

Q: Did the Acura MDX come with the option for both the DVD and Navigation?
I am looking to buy a used MDX. I can’t seem to find one that has both navigation and factory DVD. I have been looking at the 2005 and 2006 models. Anyone have any info? I know they started offering the technology package, but that wasn’t until later (2007?) Thanks!
A: Actually, there was an option for both. I believe it’s called the MDX Touring package w/ Navigation. You might have a hard time finding one if they are “rare”… and if no one’s selling one. In ‘07, the MDX offered the tech (sport) / entertainment (Navi/DVD) package.
Q: What is the difference between mdx /mdl fuses?
I am having trouble finding a 4A mdx fuse, but have come across a 4A mdl fuse, which is a time delay. Does anyone know the difference, and if I can replace safely with the mdl? Thanks
A: The MDX series of fuses was discontinued several years ago by the manufacturer Cooper/Bussman. Their recommended replacement is their MDL series.

Q: I decided to purchase a 04 Acura MDX over an 03 ML 350 was it a good decision?
I test drove both cars, and liked them both, but I was thinking more of long term, and which would give a better trade in about 3 years. Since the ML body style changed drastically I didn’t feel an 03 would be worth anything in about 3 years. It had 60K miles, and the MDX 52K.
A: the Acura is better.

Q: should I fix my MDX transmission or buy a new car?
I have a 2002 MDX with 110000 miles. It nas a bad transmission that will cost 3K to repair at the dealership. Should I do that, or trade it in @6K for a new car?
A: Trade it in for a more useful car ie: not a “crossover” futility vehicle.
Q: Can someone give me some info on the Acura MDx and RDx?
Right now I have a Honda CR-V and it eats gas up(hate that)..I do travel alot and would like a decent car to travel in, would the Acura MDx or RDx be a good car?
A: Does it needs to be a SUV? Consider other types of vehicles too. If you do not need the 4×4 capabilities or not need to drive off road. There is no reason to have some like that. You might enjoy better a much nimble vehicle with a better fuel efficiency.
If your major concern is fuel efficiency. By personal experience, I drive a full size sedan, is comfy, handles great and I get at worst 27 MPG at 77 MPH as best 32 MPG so is not bad to fill the tank with gas 16 GL and drive 450 miles before I have to fill up. Plus it has tons of room. I drove it to Copper Mountain in Colorado with 2 sets of Skis, all the gear, suitcases and all fit inside the car. The funny thing, I saw 2 SUVs on the ditch but no other cars!
Not only that, to insure is cheaper and I paid brand new about $21,000 back on 03. 84,000 miles later still runs strong.
If that is not what you are looking for, is hard to find a SUV here in the USA that will sip gas. If there is one, it will be gutless as heck.

A: It really depends on where you live.
Say you live in Hawaii where there is one Acura dealership, they can be going OVER MSRP.
But say you live in Southern California where there are hundreds of Acura dealerships they go for about $500 over invoice.
Q: What does it mean “Maintenance Required” light on an Acura MDX?
My 2003 Acura MDX’s “MAINT RQ’D” light came on while I was driving. Now, its a steady light. Its not the “check engine” light but it is now lit and I am worried it might just stop in the middle of the road.
A: generally that means it is time for an oil change and if you had your oil changed recently then they forgot to reset it. good luck and Merry Christmas

I want to buy 2001 Acura MDX, is anyone has any bad experience with this car. what do I need to look for when I go to check it out?
A: Both the MDX and its sister the Pilot are excellent cars. I repair cars for a living and I see few major problems with these vehicles. I would buy either one of these cars.
