Q: Silverado truck?
How many miles can a Silverado get before it starts to need repairs, and are they good trucks?

Q: Problems with climate control on a 2003 Chevy Silverado truck?
My husband has a 2003 Chevy Silverado. We changed the battery on it about 3 months ago. After doing this the air conditioner will blow hot air for no reason. The air conditioner can be off and the hot air still comes out. The truck has dual climate control where the driver and passenger can be at different temps. The passenger side will have cool air and the driver side will have the heater blowing. If we turn the truck off and back on the problem corrects itself. Has anyone dealt with this or does anyone have any suggestions what the problem could be?
A: The left side temp mode door actuator is bad. I had the same truck with the same problem, and I also get alot of warranty claims with this same complaint and the GM guys say it is very common for these temp mode door actuators to go bad. There is one on the left side and one on the right side, and it sounds like the left side actuator is intermittently shorting.
Q: What does the LS on my chevy silverado truck stand for?
Its a chevy silverado classic 4 door truck 1500 v8 and it has LS on the side and i have been wondering what it ment..
A: LS refers to the trim level. LS is the entry level on the Silverado. It’s one step above the work truck. Typically indicitive of the power options…It will also depend on the year though because trim levels change or I should say what comes on the trim level changes.
Q: where is the ecm located in a 1988 chevy silverado truck?

Q: Want to put off road tires on my 2003 Z71 Silverado truck, what sizes wheels can I put on without lifting it?
I currently have a 2003 z71 silverado with 20 inch rims on it with 285, 50 20 tires but I want a more aggressive look without lifting it, what combination of wheels and tires can I go with without lifting it, I’m looking at maybe 17, 18, 19, and 20 inch rims? My truck is 4 wheel drive too.
A: i have a 2000 Z-71 and i have factory wheels 16X7 and the biggest i can get on mine with out rubbing is 285-75-16 if you go any bigger they will rub
Q: where can i find a 1990 Silverado Truck Frame/Chassi?
So i have a 1990 Silverado, the frames getting bad on her, its not going to rot out in the next year or two, but its definitely going to need replacing. I have searched online and can not find anyone who sells truck chassis new/used. Anyone know of anyone or a place where i could find some frames?
I have a 1990 Silverado 4whl drive, full size reg cab.
A: A lot of times towing companies sell damaged and unclaimed vehicles by auction. (Usually on behalf of insurance companies) Those trucks usually go for $75 to $350 depending on condition. If you are after the frame I would suggest waiting for a theft recovery or abandoned unit to come up, because it doesn’t take much of an impact to tweak those frames.
Q: What is the horsepower rating for a 1989 Silverado truck with the 350 TBI?
I am just wondering what the the rating is for a stock (or slightly modifyed) ‘89 350 (5.7 litre) Chevy truck engine with thotale body injection so that can have a ballpark figure as to what my truck is putting out.
A: about 230 horsepower
Q: How to make my silverado truck ride smoother?
I’ve had my 2000 silverado for a while now and it has over 100 k miles on it. The ride has always been pretty bumpy, i have good oem tires and everything is stock. How can i make the ride a little smoother on city and freeway driving? Will new good shocks make a big difference? if so, what brand is good?
A: If the shocks have never been changed, they’re long overdue. As one writer pointed out, going to softer springs is the best solution but fresh shocks can reduce high frequency spring oscillations that may contribute to a harsh ride. You can try lowering tire pressure to the lowest possible safe pressure but be careful here and get a tire proffessionals advice;. One old trick with pickup trucks is to load some weight (4 or 5 hundred lbs. as far forward as possible) in the bed but this can affect fuel economy.
Q: How do I remove the interior panels on the doors of a 2000 silverado truck?
The door speakers are bad and need to be replaced. I just bought the truck so I haven’t really got to break into it and figure stuff out yet.
A: Take out the screws where you grab on to close the door. The trim piece around the inside handle(the outer piece, the one behind the handle stays).Grab the bottom of the panel and give it a yank.(if you don’t have a clip puller).
Q: 92 Chevy Silverado Truck Smokes when Started?
I have a 1992 Chevy Silverado Pickup Truck with a 5.0 Engine V8 and almost everytime I start it up. It Smokes, then it quits smoking, it doesn’t smoke when I am driving down the road.
But I would like to find the problem and fix it. I was thinking it could be a valve problem. But not sure.
If anyone knows what the problem is or could be. I would appreciate it.
Thanks
It’s probably the valve seals because it smokes out the tail pipe when started.
I think it is a white colored smoke
A: Sorry, but Chevrolet never produced a motor *from the factory with valve stem seals which is a poor aftermarket stop-gap. If your motor also smokes on deceleration rest assured the valve guide clearance is worn, a problem with thin-wall head and block casting with 305’s. To top it off GM never added the same amount of nickel in the 305 blocks and heads as the 283, 302, 327, 350, 383 and 400 heads and blocks.
The only real repair are new valve guides. The sloppy guide holes are bored oversize and new bronze, hardened steel ot manganese bronze guides are pressed back in. A valve job has to follow to true the seats 90 degrees with the guide holes and re-face the valve sealing surface.
Q: Does anyone know a brand name and size oil filter for a 1979 Chevy Silverado truck with a 350 motor.?

ACDelco PF1218 (the PF35 does not have an anti-drain back valve)
WIX 51069 (WIX filters are sold at O’Reilly Auto Parts)

Q: 96 Silverado Truck Wont turn on locks dont work?
I went to turn it on today and see that my alarm is working but the power locks arent unlocking at all and i go to turn on the truck and nothing it has power battery doesn’t seen dead at all. Im going to change the fuse maybe thats not letting it turn on cause the alarm isnt unlocking it. I have no clue could it be the starter. I turn the key and it goes threw the same process when it turns on but just cranking.
A: If it’s cranking then it’s not your battery. You might have a ‘Theft Deterent’ fault causing it not to start. Look to see if the ‘Security’ or ‘Theft’ light is on or blinking while you have the key in it. You will then need to take it to a repair shop for further diagnosis.
Q: What size factory speakers come in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado single cab truck?
What size factory speakers come in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado single cab truck? I have blown my speakers and want to buy some new ones to replace them. I can’t find my book that came with the truck and have been unable to find the info online. I just need to know what size they are. I am guessing to sets of 4X6 speakers but am not sure. Can anyone find the specs online?
A: check www.crutchfield.com if you go to car speakers and select your truck it will say what fits and where.
Q: How do you install Front Wheel Bearings on a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado Truck 2wd.?
the bearings are now included in an enclosed hub – called hub bearings. its different than it was on older trucks. the bearings are actually enclosed.
A: Jack truck up, place on jack stands,
Remove wheel, and brake caliper (no need to take brake line off, use a block to sit caliper on, or a clothes hanger to hang caliper with so force aint on the line.
Look at your rotor, pop the grease cap off the center with a flat blade screw driver..
Remove cotter pin with screwdriver and plairs, take off castle nut and large washer off.
Pull rotor out then push back in.. That will wiggle the outter wheel bearing so you can grab it, remove that bearing
Now pull rotor off.
On the back side of rotor you will see the seal, pop it out with a flat blade.
Now lift out the winner wheel bearing.
Check the bearing races (inside hub) if any signs of wear replace them (drive out with large punch and drive new ones in with race/seal/bearing driver tool)
Pack new inner bearing with grease, install in rotor, put new seal in,
Put rotor back on
Pack outter bearing and put in rotor
Put washer, castle nut nut back on.
Tighten nut untill you can’t turn rotor any, then back off the nut 1/2 turn to 5/8 turn..
Put cotter pin back in it, fill with grease, and pop cap back on.
Put caliper on,
Install wheel
