Q: Who has a new 2011 F-250 with the 6.7 diesel?
What are you getting for mileage (for real). Looking for hwy and city average, and when towing a boat or something heavy.
A: A guy on a forum I’m on has one…
“Made it to Spokane, WA today. Averaged 10.2 pulling all of the passes on I-90. I had a guy in an empty D-max pull up to me on the Continental divide. He paced me and I eased into it up to 75. Truck never downshifted out of 5th. (which is an OD gear). I could hear him downshift to keep up.
I could pull each hill as fast as I felt comfortable with all of the curves. I even back off once to let a tractor trailer pass another. No problems accelerating mid-grade.
Down hill I think the trans is a little aggressive. I rarely needed to brakes. Just a short tap and the trans would downshift and hold speed.
I switched off the trailer sway control a few times. It really helps with crosswinds and winding down the big hills.”
“All mileage hand calculated. Towing #6800 in a 7×16 tandem axle trailer. Ceiling is 6.5′. Low: 10.5mpg @ 75-80mph w/ headwind. High: 13.2mpg @ 65-70mph no headwind. No complaints yet. Tow/Haul downshifting is very aggressive. We are currenlty in Chamberlain, SD. Off to Mt. Rushmore tomorrow and then heading over the big hills Thursday and Friday.”
The digital fuel gauges (fuel efficiency) is accurate..unlike the ones on the 7.3, 6.0, and 6.4. They are ahead of the 6.7 cummins in torque…but only slightly. I believe in another post he said he said he was getting about 20mpg around town, so maybe around 25 on highway.
Q: Well I am getting the f250 but gas or diesel?
I decided to get the new 2011 F 250 crew cab lariat short box but now I don’t know what motor to get. The diesel is $7800 more but it will get better mpg and last longer I need some input
One more thing I narrowed it down to 2 colors either platinum white with gold on the bottom or Black with the gold
A: Get the 6.7L. It does get great fuel milage and doesn’t even compare to 2005. 2005 was the mid generation of the 6.0…the first attempt at an engine with emmissions control in mind AND built by another company (NAVISTAR/International). There are no problems as of now with the truck/engine. It has a an AMAZING drive train and will hold up over time. The STOCK quarter mile on these things have been as high as 15.78sec. And the rumors are that there are no “lifting the cab” tricks to fix any of the engine components. Especially if you ever pull, a diesel will make a great investment and will outlive the gasser.
Q: Concerning Photography….?
Hey everyone.
I enjoy taking pictures of things that I’m interested in, like nature, landscapes, etc.
One of the things I like the most is cars. When I see a car that I like, I’m tempted to take a picture to show my friends via Facebook or E-Mail. (I have a little group of friends who all love Ford vehicles, so I enjoy trying to take pictures for them).
By taking a picture of a car, in this case, a 2011 F-250 King Ranch Diesel, is it illegal to post it to my Facebook account? If so, how heavily is this enforced otherwise? When I do take pictures of vehicles, I take precautions and make sure to white or black out the liscense plate number.
Could someone please help me? Thanks in advance.
1. Do I want the liscense plate in the picture?
2. What if the car is just in a parking lot?
A: I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. If you’re standing in a public place such as a sidewalk, you can photograph whatever you can see, including cars in a parking lot. Obscuring the license plate is probably a good idea because it protects their privacy. But as a practical matter, such laws are rarely enforced unless there’s money to be made. In order to sue someone, you have to show how you’re damaged. If someone had a unique car, they might be able to claim that your photograph infringes on their right to exhibit it for money — but as you can see, that’s not likely.
But why don’t you make yourself some “business cards” with your name and perhaps Facebook address on it, and ask permission of the owners? I find that people are always cooperative if you give them a good reason.
