Q: Why does my 1984 diesel f 250 smoke none stop and is hard to start?
I have a 1984 diesel f 250 and it dont start unless i put some starter fluid in my intake ,although they tell me its no good.Will start with the fluid but it smokes like crazy . What could it be?

Q: How much amps does it take to start a F-250 Diesel engine with a battery charger?
I need to buy one but don’t know how much amps I will need to turn over the F-250 7.3 liter diesel engine.

A: You will need a lot more amps than 1 battery charger on start will provide. Usually it takes about 400 amps to get them puppies to think about starting.. depending upon the 7.3 (If it’s a powerstroke it needs a lot more power to boost up the oil pressure to fire it off)
Usually it takes 2 battery chargers, but usually a stone dead Ford diesel takes 2 professional jump start batteries to kick them over good.
If you are willing to wait to charge the batteries first, any battery charger will work (preferably one that can charge at 40 amps or so continous , but be prepared to wait half a day to start it if the batteries are still good)
Q: Is there good Subwoofer/Speakers for a 1987 Ford F-250 and do speakers have subwoofers in them?
I just got a 1987 Ford F-250 and I was wondering do you only need speakers? Do they come with sub woofers in them? Also can you play music with just a subwoofer or you need both?

A: Ok your truck has factory Oe audio kit no they dont come with subs they are mids you would have to go out and purchase a subwoofer from your local audio store and some subwoofers you can play music through although it may sound distorted i would go with a dual voice coil which plays low tones for better bass and it also puts out a great deal of speak in it you can hear bass but also the words and id hook it up to a 500 to 1000 watt amplifier but it is hard to hook to a factory cd player also so id get a aftermarket stereo also

A: Yes you do have to take the nut off of the drive axle,Just remove the brake caliper,then take the big nut off of the axle and the rotor should come off with a little muscle and a hammer.
Q: How do I start a Ford F-250 with out a key?
I got a wrecked 98 Ford F-250 I need to see if the motor is good, but I don’t know how to start it with out keys.
A: U can’t. the vehicle’s ECM (computer) has a built in Anti-theft system. If the Anti-Theft does not read the chip programmed inside the key (have you noticed the keys handle has a black plastic cover? well theres a chip in there that communicates with the ECM). Unless u reprogram the vehicles computer It’s gonna be nearly impossible

Q: How do I fix the cable attached from the gear shift on my steering wheel ford f-250 super duty?
Basically the cable is so looses when I shift there is no more park it says its in park but its reverse then neutral is when the shifter says reverse than drive is when the shifter says neutral its a 2001 ford f-250 diesel super duty
A: i used to work for ford, and it is fairly easy
remove the covers that wrap around the steering column and the panel that is about where your knees are when you sit in the seat
the cable can be seen now, and some times loosenig the bolts that hold the column up to the dash(should be 13 or 15mm and might have 2 or 4 of them)then remove the cable and push it through the firewall
then under the truck it is attached to the trans
reverse the procedure for install
Q: My F-250 is intermittantly tugging back for a split second(like the brake is applying itself). What is up?
I have a 2000 diesel F-250 with 95k miles. I was towing a camper, and about 150 miles into the trip, I kept on feeling a brief tug back on the truck once a minute or so – it was very light at first, but then it got harder and the tires actually screeched for a split second a few times. I got off the freeway, pulled over for a few minutes, and got back on the feeder at about 40 mph, and the problem seemed to go away (or maybe I just couldn’t feel it anymore at the slower speed).
I was towing a pop-up camper – it is relatively heavy for a pop-up, and it DOES NOT have its own brakes. It didn’t seem like the engine was struggling – I was at normal 1800 rpm at 65 mph. It felt like a momentary brake glitch – but I couldn’t tell if it was the back or front tires that screeched, so it could have been a temporary transmission glitch.
I have driven about 30 miles without the camper since then, and haven’t duplicated the problem yet. Any ideas?
A: I’d check the wheel bearings on the trailer.
They may be dried, rusty, or locking up.
Q: How do I remove the headlight switch on my 1993 Ford F-250?
I need to take the dash cover off to replace the fuel selector switch on my 1993 Ford F-250. I have done it once before, but it was years ago, and I can’t remember what I did. The problem is that I have to be able to remove the switch for the headlights, to get the dash cover off. I can’t figure out for all the world how I got it off before.
A: the know has an angled steel lock and you push in with a pick type tool from behind the knob and it slides off.

A: On each side of the radio you will see 2 small holes. Wal-Mart may still sell the little remover things. They are ‘u’ shaped pieces of wire that you insert in to the holes to press the clips that hold it in place. If you have a small terminating screwdriver, you can insert that into the holes (both holes per side at a time.

I have a 99′ F-250 with the square body-style and im needing to get a suspension lift for it but there are two different kinds. One is for trucks built before 2-28-1999 and the other is after 3-01-1999. Pretty sure that mine was after 3-01-1999 but I dont want to buy it unless I know for sure.
A: WELLL, You could go open your drivers side door and read on the sticker inside the door jamb WHAT the exact date of production for your truck is. However when it comes to F-250’s in that time frame things cam get really screwey as Ford overlapped ALL 3 body styles of F-250. the 99 F-250 superduty saw first production at the very end of 1997 and was sold as a 99 model when the 98 model should have rolled out. They also built the 92-97 style F-250 right up until the turn of the 98 year to use up any leftover cab parts they had. Also during this time frame you could buy a light duty F-250 that looked like the cab forward 97-03 style F-150’s this truck is distinguished by the fact that it has 7 lugnuts per wheel. the light duty F-250 was killed off in 1999 after only 3 years of production. However the earlier 99 Superduty trucks were also used to clear out the leftover suspension parts used on the 92-97 style F-250’s Which is why they want a build date. Clear as mud?

Q: How do I install an outisde driver’s side door handle (06 F-250)?
I have an 06 F-250 and had it broken into this weekend. They broke the plastic piece and messed up the lock where the key goes. Everything else is ok I just have to get a new handle and lock cylinder. Does anybody know how to do this or is it even possible to do on your own, I am not paying for 150 for parts and 360 for labor.
A: remove your door panel//there are probably a few screws in it.when you locate and remove the screws it should pop off////some times there will be a acess to the handle and lock///most locks have a clip on them..i would try it myself because that is way too much for labor

We have a 2007 F-250 king ranch and I was wondering if they make floor mats that are all weather that say king ranch on them or if they only make them in the ones that come in the truck.
