Q: Ford Ranger Sport truck 3l compared to 4l?
I have heard that Ford will not be coming out with a 3l for 2009, just 4l.
My question is for the 2008 models, is there any different in gas mileage comparing a 3l to 4l? i’ve looked at sticker window and it shows both pretty much the same and on fuel economy website it shows you get better mileage overall with the 4l.
That’s hard to believe.
Is the 4l a gas guzzler?
A: If you’re buying a truck, fuel economy is generally not that important to you. But anyway they should get about the same mileage. The 4.0L SOHC doesn’t have to work as hard to move the truck around at the old Vulcan V6 does, so their fuel mileage is about the same. With that said the 4.0L is considerably more powerful and is a newer design than the 3.0L
Q: 1999 Ford Ranger Sport Driver side seat issue?
I just bought the truck, and the seat is totally gone,it gives me a backache seriously. I’ve tried seat cushions and pads, but the seat is just worn to death.I called my usual junkyards, and its popular item that know one has. Does anyone know of another vehicle seat that will work? Or have an idea what I should do? I do not want to spend a lot of money.
A: get a pair of sass bucket seat from repco or other car shop
Q: Can you put a 1988 Ford Ranger XLT Sport motor in a 1994 Ford Ranger XLT?
Actually if you know what can you use from the older truck that would be fine to use in the 1994? Any ideas anyone? Mostly wondering about the motor though. Thks.
A: Yes sure you can I even think the motor mounts are the same when you pull them out inspect all connections and hoses you might have to move one to another, hope this helps
Q: I just bought a new 2009 Ford Ranger Sport 2 days ago.?
I got in my truck today and it won’t start. The battery appears to work fine because the radio works and the panel lights come on. The engine just doesn’t come on at all. I checked the fuses and they appear to be fine. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
A: check your anti- theft feature.
Q: What is the best way to remove a little rust from a truck, and also prevent it from spreading?
My truck is a 2001 Ford Ranger Edge Sport
A: navel jelly then reprime then repaint
Q: How much should i pay someone for putting fog lights on my truck?
i supplied the lights. i just want to pay him for the labor but i don’t know whats fair. is it a lot of work to put thoses in? i have a 2000 ford ranger sport and he put them on in his yard and no i’m not a redneck.
A: Did this person have to wire them? Did he have to make mounts for the light assembly?
If they just bolted on & plugged in a wire, maybe $20-30.
If there was additional work then you need to figure out his time.
Labor rates in a repair facility, which are ridiculous, are on average $80/hr.
If this was a friend, I would charge about half that labor rate if it wasn’t done in a legitimate business where you have “overhead”. You need to go by his time & about $40/hr.
Good Luck!
Q: 2008 Ranger accessories what is cool?
i have a 2008 Ranger Sport. Has Window visors and a hood protector. Truck is the Blue with a matching cap. Upgraded high intensity lights. What else do you think would look nice?
A: Two chrome exhaust pips, and some decent rims but don’t make it look too obnoxious.
Q: Whats wrong with my 2001 Ford Ranger Sport?
I have a 3.0L V6 Ranger with 33” tires. Ive had this truck since 2007 and ever since then I noticed that this truck pretends to be a V8! its a gas guzzler! (I don’t have problems with V8’s because you get more HP) but my truck is slow, clumsy, and drains gas quick!
I maintain the truck with everything.
Ive been pumping High Quality gas: Shell, Chevron, etc.
but it doesn’t make a difference.
with half tank full my truck travels around 105 miles before running out.
I’m thinking of selling it
and going for a Tacoma, or a newer Ranger.
is this normal for a 2001 Ford Ranger?!
why is it doing this?
please and thank you!
A: My 3.0 4×4 gets around 18 on the highway. The bigger tires probably make yours use more gas. The good thing about the 3.0 is that they will usually run 200,000+ miles without any problems.
Q: 2007 ford ranger sport 2WD 3.0L V6?
there seem to be no lowering kits epcific for my truck. are there any that can be used? are universal springs okay wihtout a mounting kit or do they need a conversion
A: DJM suspensions – djmsuspension.com 98-09 ranger 2wd
Is just one of the companies offering lowering kits. goto “http://www.airbagit.com” for bags, springs, arms, flips, notches, you name it for your ranger.
Q: Clunk heard and felt under truck. What could it be?
2006 Ford Ranger Sport extended cab 4×4 with a clunk you can feel and hear when turning. Happens a lot when you do extremely tight U-turns. Also happens on normal turns especially when they are harder. Almost feels like a “shift” from one side of the truck to the other. It is both felt and heard. If I had to guess where it was I would say passenger side under the passengers feat. Any ideas?
A: Try to get the truck up on a hoist and look it over. things I would check would be making sure the u-bolts holding the springs to the axle are tight, the engine mounts and transmission mounts are secure, the tires aren’t hitting the fender wells, the wheel bearings are tight. Any gear oil leaking from brake drums? if so, make sure your axles are secured properly into the rear differential. Check your front differential and axles for worn or loose parts, Check any suspension parts for missing or worn bushings (rubber parts)
Q: Not sure what to get for my truck.?
I have an 07 Ford Ranger Sport 2WD. I finally saw that Fabtech makes lift kits for them. Are there any other makers out there that are better for my truck? And how much would it cost to change my truck to 4WD? And how high could I go without having to buy much bigger tires?
I got such a good deal on this truck that I drove it off the lot without actually shopping around, so i didn’t exactly get to choose what I specifically wanted.
A: Lift kits are cool, but your truck is designed for the rise and suspension it has. To modify it into a 4×4, would be cheaper to trade in and get another truck. prices for that type of work are extreme, a lot of work and time involved. you would (guess) be looking in the neighborhood of approximately 4 – 5,000 in parts and labor alone, not to mention modifications to your chassis system, which that cost could also be high (guess) 500 – 3,000, depending on what they would have to do. you would be better of trading in for the one you are trying to make, it will be cheaper in the long run, and will come from the factory as 4×4 which is always better than modification. Good Luck
Q: how to and how should i make a center console for my 99′ Ford Ranger V6 Sport?
i just recently got this truck and it dosent habe bucket seats and not much of a center console. i will be getting new seats to make room for the center console. i want it to look like it was a stock console (if that was what it looked like) it would also be neat to have some way to have my ipod fit into the console. i would also like the armrest to connect all the way across to the bottom of the dash. anyway just a project im going to work on in the near future. any more questions do ask. thanks
A: Look in a junkyard for the extended cab version of the ranger as some of those have center consoles (and bucket seats), you do not have to do any complicated fabrication and it will be relatively inexpensive (maybe $30-$40). Other wise you will want to start with cardboard and cut sheets represent sides, build it that way first with the cardboard. Then using the cardboard as a template you can cut plywood or something similar, and assemble away.
Q: I need a vehicle or truck, any ideas?
Looking for a truck or some other vehicle to tow a total of 2800lbs, but doesn’t cost a fortune. I have a 99 ford sport ranger to sell or trade. it’s just not strong enough.
A: You should get a Toyota Tundra.
Q: Ford Ranger vibrating?
My husband has a 2007 Ford Ranger Sport. About a year ago or so, the truck started vibrating like crazy. We had the tires balanced and everything. That just fixed the steering wheel vibration — the truck still vibrates. What could the problem be?
A: It’s vibrating.
