Q: GMC Sierra?
Would you recommend a GMC Sierra 2 door for a 16 year old driver, and do you know what the estimated cost of insurance would be? What are advantages/ deisdvantages of this vehicle? I need a truck, and not a car, so don’t say get a car.
A: These trucks hold up well, are cheap to fix, and cheap to insure. I am not sure about a 16 yr old driver, but I only pay like $30 a month for insurance on my 85 GMC Sierra Classic. Its hard for them to tear up these trucks, and IF (God forbid) they ever wreck it, they will hold up like a TANK. I own 5 of these trucks, years 78-85. All three of my sons will learn how to drive in one of them, but that is just my opinion.

i would recomend this truck to anybody and dont tell me v6 sucks beucase its all he could afford at the time but for only 195 hp he flored it today and that has pretty good get up and go to it and can do really good burnouts

A: G6er: There was never a Cobalt GT.
For the most part, the Silverado and Sierra are the same. The Sierra is generally more upscale than the Silverado, but nonetheless uses the same drivetrain and many body parts. The only difference looks-wise is the badging, front end and wheels. The GMC does cost more than the Chevy as well, and has a more upscale interior. Performance is similar, but as you mentioned GMC has the Sierra Denali, which is akin to the Silverado LTZ.

I have 2007 GMC Sierra (New body style). My side view mirror on the passenger side is extremely loose. I would like to know how to repair it and make it tighter. Any ideas how to get into the mirror to tighten it?
A: The fasteners are accessed from inside the door, so you’ll have to remove the inside door panel and tighten them up.
Q: I have a 1995 GMC Sierra truck. How do u access the union near here to fix the brake line?
I have a 1995 GMC Sierra truck. There is a hole in the brake line near the gas tank. I can’t access the union/coupling in this area because it is too tight, the gas tank is in the way. Is there a way to get to the union/coupling without removing the gas tank? I have been soaking the union/coupling joints for 5 days with solvent, but I still can’t get the wrench on it. Can I run a line down the entire body instead of removing the original sections?
A: Run a new line, but you still have to loosen and remove the leaking line’s connections at the wheel and at the rear brake line pressure proportioning valve. Since you’ll then have to bleed the entire brake system, I recommend you bring it into a shop to have the line replaced and the brake system bled. You really need a vehicle shop lift to get under the vehicle safely to do the work. If the rusted section were accessible, you could cut the bad section out of the line and reflare the line to install a new section of line in the old line. It’s not easy and may be easier to replace the whole line from connection to connection.

A: There is a fill plug in the side of the case. Remove it and stick your finger or a bent length of insulated wire in to check for fluid. The proper amount is up to the bottom of the hole. If the clutch is out of adjustment you will need to replace some linkage parts. I wouldn’t bother with junk yard parts. They will be worn too.

they have a complete listings of used parts in your area. then you find what you need and call the salvage yard and ship it to you or have it sent to the repair shop. save you money on finding your own parts.

i have a 1986? GMC sierra and i want to get a manifold and carburator set for it… i know later in the year of 1986 GM changed their 5.0 with different heads. therefor i will need a different mainifold. how can i tell the difference?
A: You can also check on the door inner panel of the date your truck was made,only if it hasn’t been bleached out.Good Luck.

A: just sand it down with any sandpaper and then use any grease or oil to lube it. Like the other guy said if not rusted no need to clean it. You dont need a special lube they just do that to make money. Just like on lawnmowers they say use expensive oil all you have to use is regular SAE 30

A: your local GMC dealer should be able to get the code from the manufacture. by using your vehicles VIN. numbers. i don’t know what if any charge there will be. they will ask for proof of ownership. you must go in person. they won’t give out this info. over the phone. i’m sure you understand why. if for some reason they can’t . they should be able to tell you how to get the codes. i’m Pretty certain they will be able to help you.

I don’t really know much about speakers but from what i can tell there is only 4, 1 on the door on each door and 1 right beside where my head is on both sides. I was wondering what speakers should i get and what size would fit and all of that stuff.
A: I always say that the best speakers to put into you car are the ones you can afford.
Go to your local Best Buy or mom and pop car audio installer, and get suggestions and quotes.
Then see what places like Wal-mart have to offer. You might find that you have the skills to make the swap yourself.
Don’t buy just because they are expensive, and don’t try to impress anyone but yourself. Keep in mind that your GMC along with it’s speakers are eventually going to end up in someone’s salvage yard.

I’m looking to tint my driver/passenger windows. I want it to match the tint on my extened cab back windows. I’ve heard that most stock tint is at 20 but it could possibly be 35. It’s for a 1999 GMC SIERRA EXT Newbody Style.Thanks In Advance!
A: it is around 35% but that is to low for any state legal limit. the rear windows are not tint, they are smoked and it does not come off the glass.
