Q: What benefit is a V8 over a V6 for an SUV, specifically the Toyota 4Runner? When is a V8 worth the extra cost?
I want to buy a new or used (no earlier than 2006) Toyota 4Runner with the sports edition trim. I plan on keeping my Corolla and using the 4Runner for trips, winter/bad-weather driving, and hauling things. I can’t see myself pulling trailers very often, if ever, but I do like more power. Thanks!

A: More power for passing and towing.

Q: is a Toyota 4Runner a good suv to buy?
looking into a 4runner maybe a 2007 or 2008. is Toyota 4Runner reliable suv to buy for me and my girlfriend and 2 kids..

A: The Toyota 4Runner is among the very best. Its Composite Reliability Value is +1.00 on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00.

Also, the 4Runner is on AutoOnInfo.net’s very selective lists of Vehicles with Best Engine Reliability, with an Engine Reliability Rating of +1.00 on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00, and Vehicles with Best Transmission Reliability, with a Transmission Reliability Rating of +.88 on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00.

Q: What kind of car part is this? Toyota 4Runner SUV?
I found this in my Toyota 4Runner SUV SR5, but I am unsure where in my car it belongs. Please describe where this part belongs.

The numbers listed on the inside of the part are:

My Toyota 4Runner is a 2005 model.

A: what year is your 4runner? it’s probably just part of the interior look around in your car and see if you could find a place where it goes! hope this helps..

Q: I want a 4runner SUV.. should I feel bad (global warming?
toyota 4runners average about 18 mpg.. good for suv’s, but still..

I need a vehicle with towing power that is big enough for me and my girl to sleep in (we often explore the middle of nowhere)

A: you shouldn’t feel guilty at all, since you can justify a need for it.

Q: How can I choose between a car (accord) or SUV(4runner)?
Right now I drive a 1998 4runner in great condition, and I love it. Problem is, it is getting old, despite the fact that “toyotas run forever if you take care of them”
I am a female, but i do keep up with the proper maintenance on my car, but I am about ready to look for an upgrade. This was my first car, so I have hardly an experience driving small cars. However, with gas prices going back up, i think I need something with better mileage but I’m not sure I would LIKE to drive a car. How can I decide this??? One thing I like about SUV’s is that I am higher up, and I feel safer. But, I feel that cars are so much more stylish, and look good when they just fly past you. anyways, i’ve settled on either a new 4runner or new accord. Which would you choose???

A: I drive a 4runner too and would not trade it in for any car! Been there, done that, traded my 04 4runner for a Subaru Outback (not even a small car) and in two months I was back in a 4runner (‘07). SUV’s are safer, easier to get in and out, much more comfortable, more cargo room, you can see the road better, better in the winter, when you want something out of it, you don’t need to bend down or kneel to get stuff out, etc. So much better looking than the Honda. It’s hard to decide for us if you would like to drive a car. Unless money is really an issue and saving about $600 a year will make a difference for you (or $12 from you weekly paycheck difference), get a 4runner. I feel very stylish when I’m flying past the cars..:-)

Q: What’s a better more reliable suv around yr2000? Pathfinder, 4Runner, Element, CRV?
Looking at buying one of these cars, probably about a 2000 model give or take a few years.

I’m looking at nissan pathfinder, toyota 4runner, honda element or honda crv? which is more reliable? has lowest cost of ownership? which have you had good experiences with? which is most likely to make it to 200k?

A: All will make it past 200k….. but the CR-V will have the least amount of problems and get 30mpg.

Q: where are the cheapest toyota 4runner 8 cylinder suv’s?
looking for a 2004-2005 4runner preferably an 8 cylinder. I live in the northeast.

A: If you check with your closest Government auction, you’ll find the best prices are found with seized automobiles.

Q: 2000 Toyota 4Runner? Good SUV?
I just saw a 2000 Toyota 4Runner for sale for $5000 with 44,000 miles on it… Do you think its a good deal? I’m 21, also, do you think its good for a 21 year old male?

Thanks

A: you don’t give enough details for an accurate estimate. what model, what condition, what options?

the least expensive trim in average condition sells for $3,000 and $5,000

go here for a more detailed estimate:

Q: What’s the best SUV to get for low ownership cost and reliability? Element, CRV, 4Runner, Pathfinder?

A: CR-V.

Q: what basic feature makes this posible, and makes 4runner different than a car-based SUV?

A: The 4Runner is based on a truck frame and not a car frame – that’s the difference.

Q: Toyota 4Runner or American SUV?
Which would you buy if they were all in your price range?

A: Toyota 4Runner No offence but Japanese make better cars.

I have a 1996 4runner. I bought it in 1997. It has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. I’ve been threatening to get another 4runner, but I wasn’t really thrilled with the ride quality of my old 4runner. Then I drove a new one. They aren’t the same vehicle. Maybe in name only, but the new one is so much smoother.

Q: which suv is better off road 2001 toyota 4runner sr5 or 2000 mitsubishi motero sport?

A: If the 2001 toyota is fitted with a hugel-furgelflinger diff then it’s no contest, the Toyota. Or as we say in UK, Geef meen feets torog!

Q: Toyota 4Runner is good SUV?
My dad told me years ago that the 4 runner was a POS and at the time he was right. Are 4Runners better now? Where can I do my own research? What do you guys think?

A: I’m not sure why your dad would say that….they have always been near the top in reliability and resale value since they came out. My dad has had 2 and never had a problem with either of them. Go to Edmunds.com or MotorTrend.com and do some research. Your dad sounds like a Toyota hater…I’m not a big fan either, but I at least acknowledge that they make good cars.

Q: What is the max mileage youd be comfortable when buying an SUV, 90’s models?
Looking for a 2nd vehicle, SUV (maybe Jeep or 4runner) 90-99 model.
At what mileage would you stop considering an older vehicle like that?

A: 98 Nissian Frontier or Pathfinder

$4,000

estimate that a avg vehicle is driven 12 to 15,000 miles a year. anything over that is excessive.

if your buying a car with 150,000 miles on it expect it to need
some overhauling around 200.000 miles.

with all cars and trucks it depends on if the car was well cared for. I’d guess 40% of ppl do the scheduled maintenance and 20% take fair care of their cars and the rest either poor or worse.

so any vehicle over 100,000 needs to be monitored closely
and at closer to 200,000 miles be prepared to spend some money on repairs.

Q: I want to go bigger on tires for my toyota 4runner, how big can I go before having to lift the SUV?

A: Tiffany,

Unfortunately we need more information before that question can be answered. Need to know:

- What year the 4Runner is.
- What model it is.
- What is the stock tire size is (although just the model will probably do).
- Whether it is 4WD or 2WD.
- Whether or not you still have the stock suspension (older 4Runners are known for sagging rear ends which will limit any tire size increase).

The problem is that 4Runners have been made since 1985 and have undergone lots of changes and versions. To reply without knowing that information would be just a guess.
